Denise Ledesma Named LA County School Social Worker of the Year

The award recognizes her outstanding dedication to supporting students and families and her commitment to connecting them with the resources they need to thrive.

For nearly a decade, Ledesma has served as SGUSD's sole District Social Worker, providing individual and group counseling to K–12 students in both General Education and Special Education. With more than 15 years of experience in social services, she brings extensive expertise in evidence-based counseling practices and developing support systems for students facing challenges.

At Del Mar High School, where she also serves as Community Schools Coordinator, Ledesma has helped establish community partnerships that brought a wellness center and districtwide food pantry to SGUSD, expanding access to vital services for students and families.

Her work reflects SGUSD's commitment to supporting the whole child and ensuring every student has the opportunity to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.

SGUSD congratulates Ledesma on this well-deserved countywide recognition and thanks her for the compassion, expertise, and dedication she brings to our school community every day.
