Gabriel Cabrera named 2025 SGUSD Portrait of an Educator

 
Mr. Cabrera was selected from eight outstanding nominees, one from each school site, chosen by their peers for their remarkable leadership, compassion, and impact.
 
Mr. Cabrera has been a dedicated member of SGUSD since 2006, and is currently teaching at Washington Elementary School. He holds a B.A., a teaching credential, and a Master's in Education from Azusa Pacific University. Before joining SGUSD, he spent two years teaching in an autism classroom at a non-public school. He holds both a multiple subject credential for elementary education and a single subject credential in social science.
 
Mr. Cabrera is passionate about making learning relevant and engaging for his students, often incorporating real-life experiences and sports into his lessons. His goal is to ensure students see themselves and the world around them in the work they do. Known for his positive spirit, thoughtful instruction, and deep care for students and colleagues, Mr. Cabrera continues to uplift and inspire his school community.
 
He will now represent SGUSD as our nominee for the 2025 Los Angeles County Portrait of an Educator. Congratulations, Mr. Cabrera, and thank you for all you do.
