San Gabriel Unified School District (SGUSD) has named Vince Lopez as the new Principal of Gabrielino High School in a significant announcement during the February 13, 2024, governing board meeting. A foundational member of the Gabrielino staff since its opening in 1994, Lopez has served the school community in various capacities, starting as a teacher before becoming a long-running Assistant Principal. Lopez took on the role of Interim Principal at the start of this school year.
Vince Lopez, reflecting on his new position, shared, "It's an honor to be appointed as the Principal of Gabrielino High School. Having been part of this incredible community since its inception, I am deeply committed to building on our strengths and leading our school into a bright future. Gabrielino High School, known for its excellence in education, holds an A rating on the Niche Report Card and boasts impressive rankings, including 17 out of 630 on the Niche list of “Standout High Schools in California” and number 8 on their list of “Standout High Schools in the Los Angeles Area.” With nearly 1600 students in grades 9-12, Gabrielino is a beacon of academic and extracurricular success in the region.
