I am proud and excited to serve the San Gabriel community as your new Deputy Superintendent of Educational Services. This is such an amazing District, where families, staff and the community collaborate to provide an outstanding education for children. I look forward to working together to ensure that all students learn and graduate high school, ready to succeed in the global society.
I began my career as a Montessori aide in a preschool classroom. My passion for teaching and helping children learn eventually led me to an 11-year career with the Redondo Beach Unified School District, where I served as both a teacher and an administrator at the elementary and secondary levels. I have also served as Principal/Coordinator of Curriculum, Instruction and Categorical Programs for the Wiseburn School District and Hermosa Beach City School District, Assistant Superintendent of Instruction for the Lowell Joint School District, and most recently as the Chief Academic Officer for the Inglewood Unified School District.
The majority of my administrative career has been spent working in smaller, high-performing school districts, like SGUSD, where I was responsible for a variety of district departments, and was able to collaborate and develop lasting professional relationships with staff, administration, parents, students and community members. I enjoy this hands-on approach and the level of involvement required to successfully operate a small school district. The shared decision-making and ongoing two-way communication required by small district communities is something I excel with, and enjoy. My vision for SGUSD is to build on the legacy of educational excellence, and ensure that all students graduate high school with the skills they need to attend college, and attain successful careers.
